Embarking on a pilgrimage to Makkah and Madinah together with your family, parents, or close friends is a heartfelt wish for many Muslims living in Germany. However, practical questions often arise during planning: How do you apply for multiple people at the same time, what are the actual costs, and can payment be handled centrally through one invoice? This guide explains how fees are structured for families and groups, what rules apply to children, and how to complete the application smoothly.
When several family members or friends travel together for Umrah, preparing the necessary paperwork does not have to be stressful. A clear overview of the applicable fees, the application structure, and formal criteria protects against surprises and keeps your focus on the upcoming journey.
How Costs for Families and Groups Are Structured
To perform Umrah, travelers use the regular Saudi tourist eVisa alongside a free Nusuk appointment; a separate or specialized Umrah visa is not required. The Saudi authorities do not offer discounted family packages or flat-rate group rates. The fee structure applies without exception per traveling person.
Your invoice consists of two transparent items:
- The official government fee: This fee is set by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and includes mandatory medical emergency insurance for the duration of your stay. The exact figure fluctuates slightly with exchange rates and is listed as a separate line item on your invoice.
- Our service fee: For reviewing your documents, entering your data accurately into the official system, and handling submission, we charge a fixed service fee of €37.50 per person. Under the German small business regulation (§ 19 UStG / Kleinunternehmerregelung), no VAT is charged.
For a detailed breakdown of all fee components, see our guide on Umrah Visa Cost: What You Actually Pay – A Transparent Breakdown.
Sample Calculations by Group Size
Because both official government fees and our service fee are charged per person, total costs scale with your party size. While the government fee fluctuates slightly, our service fee remains completely fixed:
* Married couple (2 people): 2 × government fee + €75.00 service fee (2 × €37.50)
* Family with 2 children (4 people): 4 × government fee + €150.00 service fee (4 × €37.50)
* Extended family or travel group (6 people): 6 × government fee + €225.00 service fee (6 × €37.50)
All items are clearly broken down per person on your invoice, allowing full transparency before payment.
Registering Children and Minors in the Visa Application
A common misunderstanding involves entry rules for children: travelers often assume that infants or young children can be included on a parent's visa. This is not permitted. Every child requires their own valid passport and an individual eVisa from birth. The full government fee and standard service fee apply to each child.
When applying for minor travelers (under 18 years of age), the following requirements apply:
* Accompanying guardian: Minors cannot apply or travel unaccompanied. At least one adult legal guardian must be included in the same application.
* Guardian assignment: In our form, select which adult traveler is the designated guardian (e.g., mother or father).
* Document validity: Each child's German passport (Reisepass) must be valid for at least six months from the planned arrival date. A child ID card without an electronic chip is not accepted for entry into Saudi Arabia.
* Passport photo: A recent passport photograph with a pure white background is mandatory for infants and toddlers as well. The face must be evenly illuminated, with no hands or toys visible.

The Collective Invoice: One Central Payment for All Travelers
When organizing travel for an entire family or group, you do not need each traveler to make a separate bank transfer. We provide a convenient collective invoice option on umrah-hilfe.de.
How the Collective Invoice Works
When entering more than one person into the application form, select the option "Invoice for all persons under one name (collective invoice)":
* Primary recipient: The invoice is addressed to the first adult entered (the group leader).
* Complete breakdown: Government fees and our service fee of €37.50 per person remain listed individually for each traveler.
* Single bank transfer: You settle the entire total in one transfer, referencing the invoice number. Payment is due within 5 business days.
* Independent files: Each traveler is processed as an individual application file with the authorities. If the authorities have an inquiry regarding one traveler, it does not delay the remaining group members.
To ensure maximum security, we do not send payment links. Payments are accepted exclusively via standard bank transfer after invoice issuance.
Group Application Process on umrah-hilfe.de
Our application allows you to register entire groups without creating a customer account:
- Enter details: Open the online application form. Enter the group leader first, then add further travelers with a click.
- Upload documents: Upload a legible color scan of the passport bio-data page and a passport photo (white background) for each traveler. Please never send sensitive travel documents via WhatsApp.
- Manual check: Our team in Frankfurt am Main checks all details and files for completeness and conformity with Saudi requirements.
- Receive invoice: We email your collective invoice with payment details and your personal tracking link.
- Submission and delivery: Once payment arrives in our bank account, we submit your applications directly through the official Saudi government platform. Processing usually takes place within 48 hours of payment. The Saudi authorities decide on visa issuance. Once approved, we deliver all eVisas as print-ready PDF files by email.

The tourist eVisa is valid for 365 days from issuance and permits multiple entries. You may spend a maximum of 90 days in total in Saudi Arabia across all visits combined, not per entry.
Nusuk App and Umrah Permit
The eVisa covers your official entry into Saudi Arabia. To perform Umrah rituals at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and visit the Rawdah in Madinah, you must reserve a free permit for each traveler using the official Nusuk app or portal:
* Reserve permit: Book Umrah permit via the official Nusuk platform
You do not need an expensive Umrah package to perform your rituals. Note that during the annual Hajj season, tourist eVisas remain valid for general entry into Saudi Arabia, but performing Umrah is officially prohibited for tourist visa holders. Current travel guidelines can be found on the German Federal Foreign Office travel advisory for Saudi Arabia.
