Illustration of the step-by-step process for applying for an Umrah visa from Germany

Planning a pilgrimage to Makkah and Madinah begins with securing the proper entry permit. Travelers from Germany can perform Umrah using the standard Saudi eVisa (tourist eVisa)—a separate or specialized Umrah visa is not required. At Umrah Hilfe, we guide you through the entire application process step by step, from submitting your details to receiving the issued visa in your inbox.

Short answer

To apply for an Umrah visa, complete the online application form and upload a passport photo with a pure white background along with your passport (valid for at least 6 months). The standard Saudi eVisa is fully sufficient for Umrah and requires only a free Nusuk permit in addition. Once payment is settled by bank transfer, the visa is issued via the official Saudi government platform and delivered as a PDF by email.

Thanks to digital procedures, obtaining an entry visa for Umrah is straightforward. The standard Saudi eVisa allows you to perform Umrah seamlessly; you do not need a special Umrah visa or an expensive agency package. However, accuracy remains essential: spelling errors in names or an unsuitable passport photo can lead to inquiries or processing delays. As a service provided by AZNA Marketing in Frankfurt am Main, we assist pilgrims from Germany in completing the application process smoothly. We are not a tour operator within the meaning of § 651a BGB; instead, we review your documents and obtain the visa on your behalf directly through the official platform of the Saudi state.

Documents to Have Ready Before Filling Out the Form

Before you begin filling out our online form, have the following digital documents ready for each traveler—whether adult, teenager, or infant:

* Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the planned date of entry. A national identity card is not accepted for entry into Saudi Arabia. Provide a clear, legible photograph or scan of the double-page photo page showing the personal details and machine-readable zone.

* Passport photo: A recent color passport photo with a pure white background is required. The face must be photographed straight-on, well-lit, and fully visible without shadows or patterns in the background.

* Travel dates: Keep your approximate planned date of entry at hand.

We explain specific passport requirements for different nationalities and detailed photo guidelines in our guide on Umrah visa requirements.

Step 1: Fill Out the Online Form on umrah-hilfe.de

The process begins on our website. You do not need to register an account with a password; you can start directly. First, provide your email address and telephone number for communication.

Next, enter the travel details for each person:

* Full first and last name exactly as printed in the passport (including all middle names, without abbreviations)

* Date of birth and place of birth

* Nationality

* Passport number, date of issue, and expiry date

* Upload of passport copy and passport photo

If you are traveling with family or a group, you can add additional travelers using the add button. Each traveler is registered as an individual case with their own documents. Children are linked to an accompanying parent or legal guardian. Upon request, we issue a single combined invoice for the entire travel party to the lead traveler.

Step 2: Manual Review and Invoicing

Once you submit the form, you will receive an automated confirmation email with your reference number. Our team in Frankfurt am Main then takes over:

  1. We manually review all uploaded documents for legibility, completeness, and compliance with official guidelines.
  2. If a photo is blurry or part of a passport page is cut off, we contact you promptly by email or phone so corrections can be made before any fees arise.
  3. Once everything is verified, we issue your invoice and send it to you by email.

Our pricing is fully transparent: it consists of the variable Saudi government visa fee plus our service fee of €37.50 per person. Under the small business regulation (Kleinunternehmerregelung), VAT is not charged. You can find a detailed breakdown in our article on Umrah visa costs.

Step 3: Payment Exclusively via Bank Transfer

Payment is handled via standard bank transfer to our German business account. We do not use payment links or request credit card details via messaging channels.

* The payment window is 5 working days from the invoice date.

* Always include your invoice number as the payment reference so our system can allocate your payment immediately.

* As soon as your transfer clears in our account, you will receive a payment confirmation by email.

Step 4: Visa Issuance and Digital Delivery

Once your payment is confirmed, we submit your details through the official platform of the Saudi government and obtain your visa on your behalf.

Processing by the authorities usually takes place within 48 hours of payment receipt; the final decision on any visa approval rests with the Saudi authorities.

As soon as your visa is issued, we send it to you as a PDF document via email. You can also monitor your processing status via your personal tracking link received in the initial confirmation email. For details on reviewing your document, see our guide Umrah visa after application.

Important Rules Regarding Validity, Stay Duration, and Nusuk Permit

Your eVisa is valid for 365 days (1 year) from the date of issue and allows multiple entries. Please note the stay limit: you may remain in Saudi Arabia for a maximum total of 90 days across all visits within the validity year. This 90-day limit does not reset with each entry.

Keep two essential regulations in mind:

* Nusuk permit: The visa authorizes legal entry into the Kingdom. To access the Grand Mosque in Makkah for Umrah and to visit the Rawdah in Madinah, you must additionally book a free permit via the official Nusuk app or portal. Registration is accessible via the Ministry's Umrah permit services. An expensive agency package is not required.

* Hajj season: During the official Hajj season, the visa permits general entry for tourism or business, but performing Umrah during this period is strictly prohibited.

Before departing, review the latest travel advisories on the portal of the Federal Foreign Office.
